Forum

The Wikimapia Forum is where registered users can communicate with other registered users. The forum is divided into six distinct sections.

Polygon

A polygon is an outline that is put around a place. Since late July 2008, all new tags must have polygons.

Privileged User

Sometimes, a good registered user is promoted from User Level 1 to User Level 2. A Privileged User or Advanced User has more functions than a registered user, some even administrative.

Rank

Recently, Wikimapia implemented a scoring system (see Score). A user's rank is their score compared to all registered users in Wikimapia.

Rectangle

A rectangle is the shape that contains the tag. Users need to click on it to see the information in the place's tag.

Registered User

A registered user is anyone who has an account in Wikimapia. More often than not, this term is used to describe users at User Level 1.

Score

A registered user's score is determined by the number of places and roads created.

Spammer

Tag

A tag is the main way of submitting information to Wikimapia for others to view. A tag consists of a title, description, address (if applicable), catagory (if applicable), Wikipedia Link (if applicable), polygon, and rectangle.
