Butters Canyon is a half-mile stretch of wild, woodsy land along Butters Drive. Forming the headwaters of Peralta Creek, it is an important ecological refuge for many native species. Threatened with development and a popular area for walkers and cyclists, since 2001 the Butters Canyon Conservancy (formerly the Butters Land Trust) has worked to preserve it.
