Let's see, why is this a bottleneck in the first place?.... Er, could it be the there are TRAFFIC LIGHTS on a ROUNDABOUT???? Yes, that's what I said TRAFFIC LIGHTS on a ROUNDABOUT. What a stupid concept. Build roundabout, designed to keep traffic moving. Install traffic lights, designed to stop traffic. Unfortunately nobody in highways planning ever drives anywhere, or has even half a brain, so they are completely oblivious to the above stupidity.

Someone really needs to sort this out - I spent over an hour on this roundabout the other day - queueing up the A33, and then round the roundabout where all the stupid drivers park over the traffic lights - complete gridlock... The daft thing is - it's just the roundabout causing the problems - the M4 eastbound is completely clear (which you can see while you're queueing....aaaghhhh). It just takes one little thing - eg. a broken down car, or some idiots blocking the junctions - and the whole thing grinds to a halt - for hours...
Who do you even complain to about traffic problems on motorway roundabouts? Have looked on the Highways Agency website (Motorways only), and Reading council's web-site (don't think they know the roundabout exists)...but no luck....aaaagggh.

This is one the be avoided. Traffic queuing for the roundabout causes congestion on all routes into the juntion and it can take well over 30 minutes to cross. Traffic queuing on the roundabout also blocks traffic trying to flow around/across it, there are some proper idiots in reading!

The good news is that they're spending £65m on rebuilding it, the bad news is that it's just going to be a bigger round about, when perhaps the best idea would be to build a proper duel carriageway/motorway interchange!
