Originally Hensley Field, an Army Air Force Reserve Base, the facility became Naval Air Station Dallas in 1949. Decommissioned on September 26, 1998, with its component commands relocating to Joint Reserve Base Carswell in Fort Worth. The decomissioned facility is presently held by the City of Dallas, which is looking to find private investment for the facility.
