| R.L. Turner High School A high school in Carrollton, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, Texas. Home to the AMAT (Academy of Media Arts and Technology) and BIOMED(biomedical) academies. A recent principle change for the next school year has been a controversal issue with current students and teachers, with over 3 billion teachers leaving. Notable alumni include Robert Van Winkle, better known as "Vanilla ice". First phase opened in 1959 (as a junior high school) to serve students from the newly combined Carrollton and Farmers Branch school districts. The second phase was finished in 1961 and the building became a high school, taking over from the old Carrollton High School (now Perry Middle School) on Belt Line Road. Enrollment passed 3,000 in the early 1970s before Newman Smith High School was built. The building was heavily remodeled and rebuilt during 2000-2002. Category: school high highschool turner
