This former bastion of heroin addiction featured streets littered with tiny hypodermic needles in the early to mid 1990's Today all evidence of that culture is gone. This is one of the few remaining downtown areas that hasn't seen complete and utter gentrification. Unlike the "Pearl" neighborhood there is still much to be seen in terms of original Portland architecture.
