SMP Muhammadiyah Gentasari Kroya (Gentasari - Old village in Kroya - Cilacap)

Muhammadiyah means, Muhammad followers, Muhammadiyah is an heritage of moslem strugle started by Kyai Haji Ahmad Dahlan, the founder of Muhammadiyah Fondation. The objective is to do moslem obligation according to Al Quran and Sunnah, since at that time there's still mixed of javanese tradition and moslem tradition.

One of what they do to attack the tradition is during moslem new year, they have a party and do mass circumcision ( khitan). This is very controversial as in javanese tradition duting sura (muharram) is not permitted to have any parties.

This SMP Muhammadiyah is built with their own funding, until finally the government respect to this effort, the government gave donation. Muhammadiyah is very convern education, health, and sosial cultural. Muhammadiyah school is everywhere, even in Genton village ( belitung - see laskar Pelangi film and books)
