Thiruvanmiyur is a small but buzzing township located close to the IT Corridor and IT Parks. Lots of people working in the I.T. companies a little south prefer to stay here. It is also one of the favourite places to stay for out-of-station students who are studying in the numerous engineering colleges on Old Mahabalipuram road.
Thiruvanmiyur starts from LB Road and extends till the RTO office. It is one of the busiest areas in South Chennai.
An old Marundeeswarar temple(~400 A.D) is located in Thiruvanmiyur.The original Thiruvanmiyur came up around this temple.Every Friday evening @6.30pm Golden chariot with the "Uthsavar" taken around the temple.
Kalashetra foundation is located north of Thiruvanmiyur just before Besant Nagar.It is a Music & Dance school on the Guru-Shishya tradition. Pamban swamigal temple is located next to the Kalashetra Foundation.
And then there is the beach,which is one of cleanest beach in chennai.
The beautiful East Coast Road starts here and goes to Pondicherry and beyond.The bus terminus in Thiruvanmiyur is well connected to almost every corner of the city. Recently bus services have been well extended and Thiruvanmiyur is now a portal to many other parts.
It is also home to two theatres - The Jayanthi and Thyagaraja Theatres and walker footwear(the biggest shoe shop near LB road signal). Nowadays land prices in and around Thiruvanmiyur have shot up.

Thiruvanmiyur is a beautiful and historical place in chennai. In Thiruvanmiyur, Marudeeswarar temple located. Marudeeswarar temple was very famous in Tamil Nadu. In this temple shiva teaching medical technics to the Saint Agasthiyar.
In Thiruvanmiyur, there are three Jeeva samathis here. Valmiki Samadhi located in the Thiruvanmiyur, the great saint Srimath Pamban Swamigal samadhi located in Thiruvanmiyur. Pamban swamigal temple is well known for Pournami pooja. In this temple, guru pamban swamigal giving gnana to all the people. Thirdly Sakaray Amman jeeva samadhi also there in thiruvanmiyur.
