  • I was a student in this school since 43 for 7 years. It used to be best school in Bengal. The head was Sir Haridas Goswami. No one failed in Matriculation exam.We had also science side that was B final.Till today I can remember the names of nearly all the teachers. We are very proud that we belong to this school. The only school in that period which had science lab and practical wood and metal work. Also fine arts dept ran by the famous art teacher who later became the head of Arts in santiniketon Mr Bagchi.
  • I was a student of this eminent school since 1958 to 1963 and also as Hostel boarder. Passed out Higher secondary in science 1963 Batch. • I was a student of E.Rly High School, Asansol from 1960 to 1964 after doing my primary education at Sishu Kalyan School E.Rly. Asansol. Shri Satish Chandra Moitra was our Principal. I have fond memories of my school days with vivid recollections of my teachers and fellow class students. How I wish to come into contact with my classmates like Robin Chanda of Sitarampur, Keshab Chandra Seal, Aloke Mitra, Apurba Roy from Old Station, Pranab Mondal (Bokababa) and others. I remember the school playground where football and cricket used to be played on regular basis. There was traditional rivalry between E.Rly School and Ramakrishna Mission School like that of Mohunbagan and East Bengal Club. I also remember the Rly Week in our ground that used to be held in the first week of April every year. Our school building had rather peculiar structural design : single storied from G.T. Road, but two storied from playground DRM Office side. We had an imposing gymnaesium hall and further beyond it there was our tiffin room.I can still smell imaginatively the fresh bread and butter/jam/jelly from Abdul Wahid's confectionary shop. I wish to meet my old school friends. My phoneis0342-2657561.
  • I was student of this great school from 1983 till 1989. I passed out my +2 from Science side. I have good memory to cherish from the school. All the teacher like Physics, Maths, Bio, Hindi were leaders of the time. One of the teacher Subtrata da (Maths) particlarly shaped my caracter and brought focus in me on what I will do in my future year. He really was helpful in my formative year. The way he encouraged excellence was tremendous. I still remember his "guru vachan" and it helped me a lot to crack my engineering. Later I went to NIT Hamirpur to study Computer Sc and engg. Some fun part of the school was uniquq. The 5 RS monthly fee and inlieu of the fees, we used to get a small 'tiffin' (either a cake from nearby bakery or bun+banana). The school had a good physics and chemistry lab. PE and WE class was fun. Recently, I saw the school, but the condition of building was not so good. Still, I think the school is made up his teachers and student and all I can say is that we had best of them here.

  • I graduated from this high school in 1956. Mr. Sudhir Ghosh was the head master at that time. He was a tiny man with huge perdonality. Many years have passed by, but I still remember him. Every morning I had to read out The Statesman newspaper articles to him. His house was next to the E R Hostel where I used to stay. Those were the worth-remembering days! I passed three years at this school; and I loved every passing day of my duration.
