Ex-USNS Ponchatoula (T-AO-148)

Laid down in 1954 and commissioned in 1956, the Ponchatoula went on to serve with the US Navy in Korea, Vietnam and eventually in the first Gulf War before she was fully decommissioned in 1992. She was transferred to MARAD in 1999 and has been a member of the reserve fleet since that date, awaiting her fate at the breakers or as a live fir e target.
