  • ...what a lovely place..
  • I spent many good times at Wrightsville Beach and Johnny Mercer's Pier before the pier was destroyed in 1996. I photographed the original wooden pier in black and white film. See photos at www.carolhunter.phanfare.com (Black and White).
  • As the person who posted this area, this is mainly where college kids hang out now. And there is a bathroom in the shop of the pier.
  • Anonymous Says: This is quite possibly my second favorite place ever to swim, definitely the best seaside. I like Wrightsville/Johnny Mercer pier because it is less populated than you would expect for Wilmington. Parking can be tricky if you are not there early, and like any beach, the best spots are taken quickly, not that I can think of a poor spot. It is a great place for families because it is less populated and there are fewer rowdy college kids, but I do not remember if there was a public restroom nearby- that could be tricky.
