Opened in 1959 originally as both a quarter-mile and a half-mile dirt oval, Ocean Speedway now is solely a quarter-mile. Figure-8 races took place through 2006 and may yet return.

Ocean Speedway is in operation on Friday nights from March through October. It hosts stock cars, modifieds, dwarf cars and sprint cars (winged and non-winged).
The track's name was changed from Watsonville Speedway to Ocean Speedway in 2006 when its operation became sponsored by Ocean Chevrolet/Honda (now Ocean Honda) of Santa Cruz.
