Site of ship building yard during WW1.Produced more ships in one year than any other shipyard in history.Workers here,for lunch had sandwiches of Italian meats and cheeses on long Itianan rolls called Hoggies,for Hog Island,latter called Hogies.So you see this is the birthplace of the Hogie.
