Mt. Fuji (Oyama)

The highest mountain in Japan and one of it's most recognizable symbols. 3,776 m / 12,388 ft

Can be climbed only during the summer months. Most climbers begin their trek at Station 5; you buy a walking stick, decorated with flags and bells. As you progress through each station, you have the station's symbol burned onto your walking stick (however you have to pay for each one). Make it to the summit and you have a great souvenir. The night climb (from early in the evening until early in the morning) is popular for the incredible sunrise view...
