Sylmar East substation (Los Angeles)

Sylmar East substation - built in 1989 after the original substation, west of I-5, to provide extra capacity and redundancy in the event of earthquake damage (the original DC static converter, built in 1970, was destroyed in the 1971 earthquake and rebuilt in 1972)
