The museum is housed in an 14th century stables for the Archbishop's Palace across the road. The carriages were collected by Sir Garrard Tyrwhitt-Drake, Mayor of Maidstone twelve times.

having visited the carriage museum, i was saddend to see it is only open for a short time, as someone who can only get to maidstone occasionaly, i was so upset that i could not go to see the carriages, on my next visit at the end of october. yours ken bryant | ||||
