* Current enrollment in all grades (PreK-12) is just under 1100. * Walker emphasizes educational excellence in a supportive and nurturing environment * On our 33 acres of land, there are 9 buildings housing three libraries, two gymnasiums, three dining halls, a technology center, Preschool, Lower School, and Middle/Upper School * Athletic fields include: football, soccer, softball, and baseball fields, as well as tennis courts. The school uses community facilities for swimming, golf and track. * Walker has low student to teacher ratios in all schools: PreK 9:1, K-5th 10:1, 6th-8th 17:1, and 9th-12th 14:1. * All Preschool and Lower School classes have both a certified teacher and a full-time assistant. * Foreign Language is offered beginning in Pre-Kindergarten and continues through Grade 12. * The average tenure of a Walker teacher is 17 years. * The school has over 180 professional staff members. Advanced degrees are held by 83% of Walker’s lead teachers. * Walker has three full-time counselors as well as one full-time Dean of College Counseling. * By fifth grade, Walker students have performed in five, major theatrical/musical productions. * The Upper School offers 36 Honors and Advanced Placement Courses. * In May 2007, 169 students took 412 Advanced Placement exams in 22 subject areas with 82% scoring 3 or higher. * The class of 2007 took an average of 4 Advanced Placement Courses during their Upper School career. * 100% of our graduates enter college. * Of the class of 2007, 98% attended a four-year college, 64% attended an out-of-state college, while 40% attended a private college. * Walker graduates have earned admission into the nation’s most prestigious universities: Duke, Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Vassar, and Yale are just a few examples. * Of the Class of 2007, 100% took the SAT with a mean score of 1230 (CR/M only) and 1842 (CR/M/W), 84% took the ACT with a mean score of 26. * The Walker School holds dual accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Southern Association of Independent Schools.
