Old botanic garden

The Alte botanische Garten (old botanic garden), a park favoured by students from Hamburgs university right across the railway tracks.

To the north-west it extends into "Planten und Blomen", which is simply low-saxon (flat German) for "plants and flowers", yet another park.

To the south / south-west it extends into the Wallanlagen, a third park which follows the ancient Hamburg town-wall.
