Bridal Veil Falls
Small waterfall with very little water just north of the Franklin Ave bridge. These falls were once the endpoint of Bridal Veil Creek, but many years ago the creek was incorporated into the sewer system and now runs underground.
The falls are about 15 ft below East River Road (which itself is approx 100 ft above the Mississippi River) and can be seen from the newly constucted road/sidewalk viewing area. The water comes out of concrete openings, cascades over a flat platform, and drops down to a rock-filled area which then drains into the river. This lower area is accessible by stairs south of Franklin Ave.
The portion of East River Road near the falls had begun to deteriorate and sink in recent years, so for most of 2006 it was closed and rebuilt with a wider sidewalk and a curved area around the falls for viewing.
