Mile 0 Trans Canada Highway & Terry Fox Memorial

Here lies the beginning and the end of the Trans-Canada Highway, meeting the Pacific waters. The other end is located in St John's, Newfoundland; over five thousand kilometers east of this point, where land meets the Atlantic Ocean.

Also a memorial statue stands here of Canadian hero Terry Fox. This spot repesents where Fox would have ended his cross-Canada run to raise money for Cancer research. His journey ended tragically near the halfway mark, in Ontario, where he fell ill and died of cancer himself.
Sparked by his bravery and determination, hundreds of millions of dollars have been raised since, in support of Cancer research.
