| Haltiala animal Farm Haltiala The entire Haltiala district is like a picture-postcard traditional Finnish rural landscape. In winter, the fields of the Haltiala animal farm are criss-crossed by ski trails, in summer they are filled with planted flowers which anyone can pick for their own use. The Haltiala primeval forest, the Niskala arboretum (founded from 1906–1917) and the rapids and deciduous woods at Pitkäkoski and Ruutinkoski are nature protection areas. There is a canoe route and fishing sites on River Vantaa. The Pitkäkoski hiking lodge, tel. 532 984, is open in summer from Sat–Sun 10am–4pm and in winter Sat–Sun 10am–6pm, in February–March Mon–Fri 10am–4pm. Wanha Pehtoori, the cafe–restaurant at Haltiala Farm, is open from 10am to 4pm, in summer from 10am to 6pm, tel. 794 726. There is also a kiosk at the farmyard in summer. Category: farm animal
