A tiny town in Tuaran District of Sabah, the land below the wind, of Eastern Malaysia. One can view the full range of Mt Kinabalu on clear & nice day. Tenghilan is situated in between Kota Kinabalu & Kota Belud. Existing Tenghilan Old & New Township had been originally generated for its present growth & development by Tenghilan 1st generation Chinese Community sometime over 60 years ago! It is believed that Tenghilan trading business originally began at Kampung Pangalan where a Chinese & Sino-Kadazan Cemetery can be located since during World War II. The Pangalan river was also an access for water's trading goods transportation on those olden days. In addition, you would find Kampung Pangalan were & are also populated with Chinese Heritage. < tenghilantown.spaces.live.com >

Yes, this is my very birth place once upon a time right at the centre of this tiny Tenghilan town map at Tuaran district in Sabah State of Eastern Malaysia famously called or named as the land below the wind in South East Asia. Sabah stand tall above A.S.E.A.N perhaps because of its popular Mt. Kinabalu with her frankness & simple living people as well as beautiful scencery & fresh air. There were no school when I was born. The shops were neither made of woods nor concrete as they stand today. Today I am trying to recall those days if possible... |

My 4th younger Tenghilan brother APAI passed away last Wednesday, 12th September 2007 in Tenghilan town. He finally made home & rested in peace after the painful suffering from deadly cancer since last year. Now, I have only my 3rd younger sister Ah Lin living in Tenghilan. I hope & wish the next, I mean the new or younger generations of LEONGS, will continue looking & striving forward to the cohesive blood bondage of our LEONGS family where TENGHILAN is our root/base once upon a time. Good bye my dear Apai brother. May God with you! |

Would, anyone, living in Tenghilan, believe that the beginning or starting point of trading or business activities for Tenghilan Township & its growth & development was originated somewhere around or near in Pangalan River where the existing Pangalan Bridge is now situated? River was a very important factor for civilisation in history. Tenghilan Pangalan Kampung Chinese Population where we can find the most in the past as well as at present moment together with its Chinese Burial Ground (cemtery) are proven the main factor. Pangalan River is leading to Tuaran Township by the way. Once one looks at the map, it is easily understood. I was told by my parents & uncles many years ago. Our Leongs' rubber estates also situated around this area. |

How & why did the name of Tenghilan come about? Anyone has any clue at all? Do please let us know if you do, thank you! I hope & wish that it doesn't sound like the meaning of " being left behind " by local or native dialect or language. |

It is nice to see some people visiting Tenghilan Websites & drop a few lines of individual personal viewpoints or comments. It is important mankind all stay as friends or keep as friendship with mutual respect regardless young or old, different religions or races or colours in this fast pace global world no matter we are or may be on earth. We all breath the same air no matter what! Distance mean nothing in this world with the adance of IT. We seem to getting closer, don't we!? I hereby wish & like to encourage/see the young & old generation of Tenghilan people continue to voice out something or contribute something for the betterment of our hometown or birthplace. Don't be shy, please! Practice make perfect & till old we still learn! THANK YOU ROZINA! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! |
