Talipot Palm

Flowering once in its life time, 60+ years, this is the bigest palm tree. The flowering lasts for a few months, and during this period some of them pollinate and develop into marble-sized fruits. Even as the fruits develop, the massive talipot has begun its decline. The huge, fan-shaped leaves, about 6 feet across, are beginning to droop and separate from the tree trunk. Only three Talipot palms in Mumbai.
