| Sandbeach Lake One of the very few lakes with a real sand beach. Located in Rocky Mountain National Park, the sand accumulated when the lake was dammed, then when the dam was removed and the lake was allowed to return to it's natural level, the sand beach occured. The lake is usually a few degrees above freezing in the summer due to the snow melt off from nearby Mt. Meeker. The trail to Sand Beach is moderate and can be comfortably hiked in an afternoon. There are limited camping spots available at the lake and no camping is permitted along the trail. Category: beach mountain park national lake rocky
