I like to come to this spot to watch the airplanes landing and you're right you can only get good views of aircraft landing on runway 3. I am so sad that they closed that old spot by runway 8. I used to go there when I was a kid. There is another aircraft viewing area by the terminal and you can get good views of aircraft landings and takeoffs and you can see the southwest/northwest and express jet airlines gates from there.
