La Lomita Chapel

La Lomita Chapel is a historic site listed on the National Registry and is located at a citypark near the banks of the Rio Grande River. Built over a century ago by pioneering Oblates of May Immaculate at the rendezvous spot of the "Padres on Horseback" en route to Roma from Brownsville. "La Lomita" means little hill in Spanish. Built in 1865, Mission was named for this Chapel.
