Horse Chestnut Tree

This tree was in the back yard of the original house that was on this site. British people have tried for over a century to get horse chestnut trees to grow in Edmonton, but it's too cold here. This one is of a hardier variety imported from Ukraine, and is doing well. It has now seeded many other trees in Edmonton. There have been preservation efforts to ensure that it remains healthy in the middle of the parking lot.
