This market is a hub of daily activity from Monday through Saturday. This is where local arecanut (അടയ്ക്ക)sellers sell their product to authorised arecanut merchants. Buyers and sellers execute trade transactions by auction. Daily operations commence at 8 am and continue until 10:30 am. For the remainder of the day the place is fairly desolate with almost no trace of morning commotion. The physical building as well as the daily routine have been well preserved for well over 5 decades.

The owner Mr. Kottol can usually be seen during this period, manning the scales. He is also the mediator between buyers and sellers. He is the second generation owner of this enterprise and has undauntingly carried on the family trade.
