Military School BangaloreKing George Royal Indian Military College, Bangalore was founded on August 1, 1946, to facilitate education of the wards of defence personnel.
The school was reorganised in September 1952 and the name shortened to King George's School with the motto "Play The Game." The cadets were being prepared for the senior Cambridge examination from 1952-1962. The name was changed to Military School, Bangalore in 1966 and it adopted the CBSE syllabus in 1967. The school celebrated in golden jubilee in December 1996. It is controlled by the Directorate General Military Training Army Headquarters, New Delhi. The aim of the school is to impart quality education to the boys to enable them to take the All India Secondary Examination and the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination of the CBSE New Delhi and as to facilitate their entry into the National Defence Academy, Khadakwala. The motto of the school is "Sheelam Param Bhushanam" which means "Character is the highest virtue." The school offers science stream at +2 level and Humanities subjects till Std. X. The medium of instruction is English but Hindi is a compulsory subject. The school has provision for 340 boarders; 87 per cent of the boarder vacancies are reserved for sons for military personnel and 13 per cent for the wards of civilians. The age of the cadet should not be less than 10 years and more than 12 years of age on July 1 of the year of admission. He should have passed Std. V at the time of admission and should be medically fit. The school has an NCC contingent made up of troops of army, naval and air force wings of Junior Divisions NCC. These activities play an important part in the training imparted to the cadets. The scheme provides ample scope for the development of the students, creative facilities and skills in the fine art and crafts. Various activities such as photography, dramatics, art and woodwork, Ham, Music, Science, debating and gardening. The school has an eight-bed hospital with a full time medical officer assisted by 10 nursing assistants. The school has an auditorium with a seating capacity for 450. The school celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in December 2006.The Golden Jubilee was celebrated in December 1996 when an old boy of the school Captain DPK Pillay , Shaurya Chakra awardee was posted as Administrative Officer by the Director General Military Training, Major General RPRC Naidu again an alumni of the School. There were several new activities undertaken during the time which are coming to fruit now. The school is going great guns and firing on all cylinders The school boasts of several achievers in its roles having its students rise to the rank of Secretary to Government of India and to three star general ranks in the services.
