The Stadio Olimpico, located on the Foro Italico, is the major stadium of Rome, Italy. It is the home of the Italian National football Team, as well as of both local teams, A.S. Roma and S.S. Lazio. It was built in early 1937 and has a capacity of 82,307. It was the main stadium of the 1960 Summer Olympics, where it hopsted the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, athletics, and and some Equestrian events. It has also served as the location of the 1975 Summer Universiade and the 1987 World Championships in Athletics. It was reconstructed in 1989-90 to serve as the final venue of the 1990 FIFA World Cup. It also served as the final venue of the 1968 and 1980 UEFA European Football Championships, the 1977 and 1984 European Cups, and the 1996 and 2009 UEFA Champions League Finals. The stadium is also an UEFA 5-star rated football stadium.

I thought it was built for the 1960 olympics, but the cover was added for the 1990 World Cup.

I saw a UEFA Cup game here once -- Roma v. Victoria Suetbol of Portugal.
