This point also marks the end of plain-lands and begining of hills. The road leads to Kalimpong, Gangtok, North Sikkim and Nathu-la at Indo-China border. Starting from almost 0.ft(msl) it ends at 15000/16000ft from MSL.
While the BG railway track criss-crosses thru' the thick forests & tea-gardens of Dooars, kissing the feet of high mountains and crossing a nos. of rivers & streams rushing down from the hills, on way to Assam. Before 2004 it was a metre-gauge track with steam engines (followed by MG diesels) - and the journey? - FANTASTIC & HIGHLY ROMANTIC. With luck on your side, you may have a glimpse of both carnivores & herbivores of the forest from the train.
