Khalilabad is small city on National Highway 28 also headquarter of district Sant Kabir Nagar. The district is known for the famous poet as well as social reformer of 15th century Kabeer Das whose grave is present in a small town called Maghar that is around 8 kilometers east to the city on National Highway 28.
The place got its name from its founder, Qazi Khailil-ur-Rahman, who was appointed chakladar of Gorakhpur about 1860 AD.
Bardahia Bazaar is the famous weekly local market for handlooms but now with the change of time it is also one of the biggest ready made garment and woolen clothe market of the state of Uttar Pradesh with annual turn over in billions. There is also a small fort here.
Nearest airport is Maha Yogi AIrport, Gorakhpur 40 kilometres east of Khalilabad. Khalilabad Railway Station is on the Gorakhpur- Basti line. National Highway 28 passes through Khalilabad. Travel is very easy as buses , cars , taxis , trains are available round the clock without any delay.
