Former Location of Busch Gardens

The original Busch Gardens were part of the former estate of Brewing Magnate Adolphus Busch from 1905 to 1938. In 1938, the Busch family offered the estate to the city of Pasadena to use as a park. The city turned down the offer and the area was developed into housing.

Busch Gardens, in Pasadena, was acres of magnificent landscaping, buildings and play areas built by Adolphus Busch on his own property along the Arroyo Seco to please and entertain his own family. It was open to the public for years prior to his attmept to give it to the city of Pasadena when his kids grew up and were no longer interested. Walk the Arroyo today and there is evidence of what used to be all over the place.

After the original Busch Gardens, in Pasadena, closed, Anheiser/Busch developed Busch Gardens on Roscoe at the Anheiser/Busch Brewery in the San Fernando Valley. it was about the size of a parking lot in amongst the brew kettles. It had some nice little man made streams, some Disney style landscaping, a couple of birds, and a sandwich shop. Fortunately, nothing of it remains.

They filmed parts of Gone With The Wind here. The scenes from "12 Oaks" ranch were the Busch Gardens.
