Bapatla is Mandal Head Quarter(Mdl code-57 of Guntur Dt, AP) for the following 20 villages:Adivi, Appikatla, Bapatla east (u), Bapatla west (u), Bharthipudi, Cheruvu, Etheru, Gopapuram, Gudipudi, jammulapalem, Jillellamudi, Kankatapalem, Maruproluvaripalem (r), Mulapalem, Murukondapadu, Narasayapalem, Neredupalli, Palaparthipadu, Poondla, Velicherla.
Bapatla has been assigned two village codes Bapatla East (village code-18) and Bapatla West (Village code-17).
It was known as Bhavanarayanapuram in old days.It is well known for famous Educational and bpatla is called andhra cambridge .Institutes, Historical temples, Beaches. Its also the home to Kalyan Kommineni, who's created a name for himself in Bapatla folklore.
