Built in 1935 by the Sacramento Northern Electric Railroad. Originally painted with "silver" aluminum paint the same as any other railroad bridge. In 1976 it was decided to repaint it in a "gold" sort of color because this is in the state capital and California is, after all, "the Golden State."
