When I was a young boy in Senera my eldest uncle used to visit Barda a lot. I had never visited this village but I had met many people from Barda who came to visit our house sometimes too. Most of the Sarak families were shisyas of my family since eighteenth century, when my ancestor took refuge in Senera during the Maratha invasion of Bengal. At that time he was going on pilgrimage to Gaya, taking the ancient pilgrim route between Puri and Gaya. Our original home was in Putsuri village in Bardhaman district. I have visited Bero, Nanduara, Lochhya, Hetabahal, Siulibari, Jhapra, Jabbarra, Panchpahari and a few other villages when I was invited by the Sarak families. I also have met people from Talajuri, Mohulkoka, Rajra and many other villages which are really too many to remember. |
