Upper Pontalba Building Apartments
Built in 1849-50 by Baroness Pontalba (a name with much history), this bulding (along with its conterpart on the other side of Jackson Square, are believed to be the first apartment buildings in the country. One is owned and operated by the city, the other by the state. Photo soon --SR
