While I have enjoyed many a meal at the DeLuxe Bar & Grille over the years, the quality of food has become so inconsistent that I have stopped eating there all together. The last time I was optimistic enough to eat breakfast there, the eggs florentine I ordered appeared to have been prepared in the microwave. The egg whites had a rubbery consistency. The spinach was overcooked. The "hollondaise" sauce was bland and watery. The hash browns were soggy. I hardly touched my ten dollar plate of food, and when the waitress asked how it was I responded honestly that it was awful. I was still charged full price. If you enjoy burgers and fries, this CAN be a great place, but if you opt for one of their entrees, you're likely to end up with something overpriced for its mediocrity.
Despite the fact that the food is often hit or miss, the wait staff are always friendly and attentive. They have an excellent cocktail menu. And when an experienced chef is working, the food will be delicious. Unfortunately, when the food is bad it is inedible: burnt, soggy, too salty, undercooked, overcooked. If only the DeLuxe management could hire and keep a decent cooking staff. |
