Mundakayam is a small town in Kottayam District of Kerala state, South India. It is the gateway to the High Ranges of Kerala, and is in at the border of Kottayam and Idukki districts. It is from here that the highranges of south Kerala starts. It's one of the most developed towns in Kerala, with beautiful rubber plantations, and amazing greenery. Mundakayam is exactly 55 Km away from Kottayam towards the East and 55 Km away from Kumily ( Border of Kerala State & Tamil Nadu State ) towards the West. The NH-220 (Kollam - Theni National Highway) passes through Mundakayam. Mundakayam is a land of spices and natural rubber. The rubber plantations in India had originated from Mundakayam, which was introduced by Mr. J.J.Murphy around 1930. Mundakayam has also conducted an All India Agricultural & Industrial Exhibition in 1967.
