An important function of the Revenue Administration Department relates to handling of natural calamities, disaster management and restoration and rehabilitation of the victims. The department handles crises related to flood, famine, cyclone, fire accidents, earthquakes, landslides, chemical, biological and nuclear disasters. Disaster Management includes administrative decisions and operational activities that involve prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery and rehabilitation. A State level committee prepares the Disaster Management plans at State and District levels to deal with all kinds of disasters.
