Western Trust Building

Western Trust Building (Regina)

Built in 1911-12 on the site of Regina's first fire hall which was built in 1888. This building was constructed to the design of Regina architect Neil R. Darrach, then partner of Maurice W. Sharon who was to become provincial architect. Neil Darrach also designed the Donahue Block at 2300 11th Avenue and Westminster United Church at 3025 13th Avenue. The exterior decoration of the building's upper floors is an example of Italianate influences. It is only one of three surviving pre-World War I commercial buildings on what was known as "Banker's Row", a concentration of financial institutions along 11th Avenue.
