Frank Gehry designed the building.

It's a must see for music fans. The SciFi museum is also a nice place for science fiction fans. They have a lot of Star Trek and Star Wars and other scifi memorabilia on display there.

EMP's Sky Church is a cool venue to see a show. Here are some pics of the Lonely Forest performing there at Bumbershoot:

  • Also known as the ugliest building in Seattle.
  • Haha its not ugly.. its uber cool !
  • Hm. Nah, it's pretty ugly.
  • It looks like a psychodelic sneeze.
  • I heard once it ewas suppoused to look like a smashed guitar or something, if that's true, I think it failed miserably.
  • it looks more like a bunch of unidentifiable objects with film strips on it. either way its really ugly to me( but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder.......)
  • the purple section is an allusion to jimi hendrix's "purple haze".
  • I remember when it was first built, there were a million rumors floating around about what it was supposed to look like. Most of them said that you had to be at the top of the Space Needle to see it - an ear, a smashed guitar, I don't remember what else.. Its been about 7 or 8 years now, and I think its become generally accepted that its not anything. Frank Gehry was just being cocky and thinking that he could draw up anything and people would think it was genius. No, Frank, its not. Its a three dimensional scribble. Seattle was not fooled.
  • i like this place
  • ahh i love the seattle area this buoding is the most interesting around, with represantations of bamds from all around...
  • looks like a... a... I DON'T KNOW MAN BUT IT'S BURNING MY EYES!!!! Looks like something that had an Epic Fail, and in turn somehow had an Epic Win!
  • Say what you will about the building or Frank Gehry but I know that when the Eiffel Tower was constructed the Parisians thought it was absolutely ghastly but could you imagine Paris without it. I don't think the Parisians would ever admit it themselves but I believe they love it too. Could Seattleites love Gehry's creation, probably not but then again...I love Gehry and I hope that Seattle looks beyond the unusual and takes it for what it is...a great conversation piece. Let the debates begin!!!
