former Postum Cereal - General Foods (Windsor)

In 1895 C.W. Post of Battle Creek Michigan invented Postum, made from wheat, bran and molasses, and founded the Postum Cereal Company to manufacture his new breakfast cereal. In 1910 Post erected a factory to serve the Canadian market at this location.
Post went on to expand it's cereal product line and acquired other food companies and changed it's name to General Foods in 1929 to reflect this diversity.

The Windsor plant produced a variety of products before moving production to Cobourg, Ontario. The buildings were used for warehousing for some time thereafter. Most of the plant has been demolished but two buildings and the landmark watertower remain standing.
