Federal Lock

This is the lock at the eastern end of the New York State Barge Canal. The Barge Canal replaced the old Erie Canal, and partly follows the path of the old canal. The Federal Lock is administered by the US government; all the other locks on the Barge Canal are run by New York State. The Hudson River is tidal all the way from the Atlantic Ocean to the Federal Lock.
