Kamptee is a place where I was born and brought up. It is a satellite township of Nagpur. It is the best place in the world. Even though I have been away from Kamptee for nearly 6 years I make it a point after every 6-7 months. I Cannot live away more than that.

Kamptee was initially a Cantonment area which is also the reason for its slow progress in development and due to its close proximity to Nagpur there was no need felt to provide facilities of better higher education, government offices, parks, stadiums, and other requisite infrastructure desirable for a city. It is a peaceful place to which people fall in love and stay the rest of their lives; especially the Military mens.

At one time it was very famous for its football culture which shaped the careers of many and brought glory to the Country, State, and the town. The football greats like Mustaque Capt (Capt of India), Shyamal Ghosh, Bimal Ghosh (Present coach of Air India FC.), Yusuf Sharif, Mohammed Ali (National Player), Narsayyaa, Pagadu Wastad, Reyaz (Raju), Sultan, Abdul Sattar Ansari and the likes endless list greats of the football game. Many of them represented Mohammedan, or Mohan Bagan and Air India. The Rabbani Football Club is very famous. It also went on to win the Rovers Cup long time back.

Its Gol Bazar is very famous for Pan and where all the young and old alike meet and utilize their passtime to do chit chatting.

The cantonment board has taken control of the open land which was used as football grounds and deprived the younger generations of Kamptee of their favourite passtime and an opportunity to make it big in the sports arena and carve a niche of their own.

The legendary Cricket CK Naidu was also from Kamptee.

Kamptee is also famous for being the birth place of BABA TAJUDDIN. It also houses the Dargah of Hazrat Baba Abdulla Shah who was the Guru of Hazrat Baba Tajuddin. Which is situated just adjascent to the Railway station. The Same Hazrat baba Abdulla shah's Mazar is present in three places i.e., Kamptee, Bombay (besides Victoria Terminus), and Karachi Pakistan all three near a Railway station. Amma ki Mazar is in Old Kamptee to reach there we have to cross the river bed.
