The Lake County History Center is a 15 plus acre parcel of land acquired by long-term lease arrangement from the Holden Arboretum in 1983. The Center serves as the Society headquarters, museum, research library and the site of many educational programs and special events. The parcel of land is part of the former Shadybrook Farm , summer home of the Arthur D. Baldwin family. The Society has added two log structures, a replica one room school, a craft barn, a replica Indian site, and a nature trail to help further those programs. Shadybrook House , the Baldwin home, is the centerpiece of the History Center. It is here that the museum is located, the educational classes held, the library research undertaken, and where the Society's offices are quartered.
The History Center is beautifully wooded and has an impressive view of the Cleveland Skyline and Lake Erie. Our surrounding grounds are used for our educational programs and special events. We also rent our facilities for meetings, picnics, and even weddings!
