In January of 1996, Gary L. Owen constructed a new 8,000 square feet office facility located in the 1,700 acres multi-use Trace Crossings Development, situated approximately three miles west of the Riverchase Galleria. Trace Crossings is also home to Hoover High School, one of the largest high schools in Alabama, and the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium, built in 1988. The Hoover "Met" serves as the home field of the Birmingham Barons (Double-A Southern League farm team of the Chicago White Sox), and has seen the likes of Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, and Frank Thomas. The "Met" also serves as the host of the annual SEC Baseball Tournament.
