A historic square, situated in the central of Porto Alegre, next to lake Guaiba (famous for its sunset). The square is surrounded by important buildings such as the Santander Cultural Center, the Museum of Art of Rio Grande do Sul (MARGS), the old Guarany Cinema, the headquarters of BANRISUL, amongst others. The annual Book Fair of Porto Alegre is held here around November.
